When I first came in, the staff members were very kind and helpful to direct me to an English representative to help answer any questions that I might have had. Even though I had already done some reading myself, the representative explained in detail of the process.
Of course, a thorough check of your eyes must be done before any potential surgery. Depending on the structure of your eyes and possibly the current vision, laser eye surgery may or may not be possible. This is important because if there is any threat of an unsuccessful surgery, doctors will inform you that you are not a good candidate for the particular procedure. In my particular case, my eyes were healthy and a good candidate for LASEK.
The procedure was fairly quick. After some eye drops, you won't be in the operating room more than a few minutes. Right after the surgery, there will be some discomfort on your eyes, but rest assured over time it will be worth it. The healing process and vision recovery for LASEK is longer than LASIK, but that just depends on your choice. There are advantages from each procedure to take into consideration.
For my particular case, my left and right eye had significantly different vision. My right eye wasn't considered that bad, however my left eye had a high degree of astigmatism. During the recovery rate, my right eye's vision began clearing up within a week or two. However, the sharpness of my left eye's vision still remains to recover. However, due to the severe astigmatism in my eye, it was already expected. Everyone's recovery rate will be different, and it may vary depending on the previous vision state. I believe many doctors will tell you that your vision will slowly recover to a stable state in 6 months. Please be patient, because your vision is improving everyday, even if you don't notice it.
Overall, a very professional experience. I would definitely recommend Dream Eye Center for any foreigner living in Korea. Of course, procedure costs may be a bit steep for some. But, if you manage to save up and feel that glasses are just not for you, eye surgery may be an option.
