I had LASEK done at the Gangnam branch of Dream Eye Center back in May and I wanted to wait a few months before I wrote a testimonial. I have to say that after 3 months of perfect vision I cannot even remember life with contacts. I had moderate near nearsightedness and my vision was very uneven. I could not even read the giant E on the vision test clearly without my contacts. So, even though its bad for your eyes, I wore my contacts about 12 hours a day so my eyes were always dry. I had worn contacts for 9 years so I was very accustomed to living with the uncomfortable feeling when something got in my eye, or the horrible experience of dropping my last pair of contacts on the bathroom floor and spending 10 minutes searching for it. However even though I was accustomed to it, I really hated wearing contacts!
LASEK is still pretty expensive in the US so I could never afford it. However, in Korea LASEK is very affordable so I decided to give it a go. I'm so glad I did! The surgery itself was only 10 minutes and felt weird but not painful at all. after the surgery, I was uncomfortable for 2 days but surprisingly I didn't have any pain at all. After one week I was good to go and didn't feel much discomfort except for occasional dryness. After about two weeks I was totally back to myself except I could now see clearly! I'm surprised by how quickly I got used to my new clear vision. I definitely don't miss stumbling to the bathroom in the morning to put on my contacts or getting all comfy in bed at night only to find that I forgot to take out my contacts and having to get up and take them out. I love my new contact-free life so much that I wanted to take some time to encourage other people to give it a go! The Dream Eye Center staff are so friendly and helpful and speak English very well. I would 100% recommend going to Dream Eye and scheduling a consultation!
